Instagram: switch to a professional account and link a Page

Munshi only connects Instagram Business or Creator accounts. Switching takes a minute. A linked Facebook Page matters only if Facebook's sign-in opens.

Munshi can connect an Instagram Business or Creator account, never a personal one. Every private account is a personal one. A linked Facebook Page only matters when the sign-in window that opens is Facebook's rather than Instagram's.

Why a personal account cannot connect

Instagram only lets professional accounts publish through apps like Munshi. A professional account is a Business or Creator account. A personal account fails on Meta's own sign-in screen, before Munshi hears anything back.

So Munshi warns you first. Every Instagram connect, from Integrations or from the composer, opens Before you connect Instagram. It lists the three things Meta checks the moment you sign in.

Switch to a professional account

In the Instagram app, open Settings, go to Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account. Business and Creator both work.

Switching is free and takes a minute. It also makes the account public.

When a linked Facebook Page matters

Sometimes the window that opens is Facebook's sign-in, not Instagram's. Munshi then finds your Instagram through the Facebook Page it is linked to. An account with no linked Page signs in and comes back with nothing to pick.

To fix it, link the account to your Page in the Instagram app under Settings, then Accounts Centre. Then connect again.

When the window is Instagram's own, no Page is needed. Instagram asks for your password there even if you are already signed in. That is Instagram's own rule.

Sign in as the account you mean

Meta offers whichever Instagram account your browser is already signed into. If that is not the one this workspace should post as, sign out of Instagram in the browser first. Then click Continue to Instagram.

A workspace holds one Instagram account at a time, as one account per network explains.

If something goes wrong

“None of your Facebook Pages has an Instagram professional account linked to it.”

Link the account to a Page in the Instagram app under Settings, then Accounts Centre. Then connect again. This happens when the sign-in went through Facebook and none of the Pages you granted has a professional Instagram account linked.

Instagram's window shows an error and never comes back to Munshi

Switch the account to professional in the Instagram app and connect again. This is how Meta turns away a personal account: the refusal stays on its own screen.

Munshi connected a different Instagram account than the one I meant

A workspace owner can click Disconnect on Integrations. Then sign out of Instagram in the browser, sign in as the right account and connect again. Meta used the account your browser was signed into.
