“Facebook needs more permissions on this Page”
Your Facebook Page connection lacks a permission or Page role. Reconnect the Page, approve every permission, and connect as a Page Admin.
Reconnect your Facebook Page and approve every permission Facebook asks for. The profile that connected the Page lacks something Facebook needs. Disconnect the Page in Integrations, then connect it again. Connect as someone with the right Page role: Admin to publish, and the Analyze role to read post metrics.
Two messages, two causes
- Publishing. In Social, the card of a failed Facebook post can show: “Facebook needs more permissions on this Page to publish.” Facebook would not let the connection post as the Page. This often follows a change of Page roles, or a permission declined while connecting. The message also says you'll need to be an Admin on the Page, not just an Editor.
- Post metrics. On Results, a Facebook post's detail can show this under By account: “Facebook needs more permissions on this Page to read its post metrics (this is separate from posting permission).” Posting can still work. Facebook reports a post's numbers only if the user who connected the Page has its Analyze role. An Editor role is not enough.
How to fix it
- In Facebook, check the role of the profile you connect with. Publishing needs Admin, and reading post metrics needs the Analyze role.
- In Munshi, open Integrations, open Facebook and click Disconnect. Only the workspace owner can do this. Anyone else sees Only the workspace owner can change this.
- Connect Facebook again, approve every permission Facebook asks for, and pick the same Page.
- In Social, find the failed post under Drafts and click Retry now.
If something goes wrong
I reconnected and the metrics message came back
Give the profile the Page's Analyze role in Facebook, then reconnect. Reconnecting only helps if the user who connects holds that role. Without it, Facebook refuses the numbers the same way.
Can I connect a personal Facebook profile instead?
No. Munshi publishes to Facebook Pages. Personal profiles can't publish through Facebook's API.
