“Pick a new time”: a post that missed its slot
The post missed its slot by more than two hours, so Munshi held it back instead of sending it late. Give it a new time to schedule it again.
Munshi could not send the post at its time, and more than two hours passed before it could. Rather than send it late, Munshi marks it failed with “This post's time passed more than 2 hours ago while it couldn't be sent. Pick a new time.” Give it a new time and it is scheduled again.
Why the post was held back
For some connections, the network has no scheduler of its own. Munshi then keeps the post and sends it itself when its time comes. If something stopped Munshi sending it right then, Munshi still sends it within two hours of its time. After two hours it stops. A post written for a moment, such as a launch hour, does more harm going out hours late than waiting for a new time.
Giving it a new time
The post waits on Social, in Drafts, with the message on its row. Press Schedule on the row, set the new date and time, and press Confirm. To change the post first, press Edit to open it in the composer. To send it now instead, press Retry now.
The same words while scheduling
- “That time has passed. Pick a new one.” You scheduled, moved or edited a post for a time already gone, or less than two minutes away. Pick a later time.
- “Instagram's scheduled time has passed. Pick a new time and use Save & schedule all.” You saved changes to a scheduled post in the composer, but one network's slot has passed. Set a new time under Schedule, then press Save & schedule all.
If something goes wrong
Will Munshi send it later by itself?
No. A post held back this way stays in Drafts until you schedule it again or send it with Retry now.
My connection to the network is fine
Then give the post a new time. This message is about timing, not access. A network that is not connected shows a different reason on the row, asking you to connect it.
