“Pinterest needs a board” and other Pinterest refusals

Every pin needs a board. Choose one under Board in the Pinterest tab, or create one there. Also covers video covers, ads-only and deleted boards.

Choose a board under Board in the composer's Pinterest tab. Pinterest puts every pin on a board, so Munshi holds a Pinterest post until its board is set. To make a board without leaving Munshi, pick + Create a new board…

Where the message comes from

In the composer, the Pinterest tab shows a mark. The line above the buttons reads Pinterest: Pinterest needs a board ID. Nothing is scheduled until a board is set.
A draft sent or scheduled from Social without a board is marked Failed. It is refused with “Pinterest needs a board ID. Set it in the draft's Pinterest settings.”

How to set the board

Open the Pinterest tab. Board is under Pinterest settings.
Choose a board from the list. Each shows its name and how many pins it holds.
With no board yet, pick + Create a new board…, type a name and click Create. Munshi chooses the new board for you.
Once a board is chosen, you can use Section (optional) to put the pin in one of its sections.

Boards Munshi cannot use

An ads-only board. It cannot take an ordinary pin, so Munshi leaves it out of the list. If every board is ads-only, the field says “All your boards are ads-only, which can't take an organic pin.” Create a new board.
A deleted board. A post can point at a board that was deleted on Pinterest. It shows the board's ID marked (not in your current list), so choose another board. If the account has no usable board left, the field says: “That board no longer exists on Pinterest.”
Couldn't load your boards means Munshi could not reach Pinterest to list them. Click Retry.

Video pins and media

A video pin needs a cover image. Munshi checks when you schedule or post. A video pin without one is refused with: “Pinterest needs a cover image for a video pin.” Add an image under Thumbnail in the Pinterest settings. The field says optional because an image pin does not use it.
A video pin can be up to 200 MB. A bigger one fails with “Could not read the video to upload: That file is too large to fetch.”
“Pinterest is still processing this video” means Pinterest has not finished with the upload. Try again in a moment.
A pin carries one photo or one video. With more, you see “A Pinterest post carries one media item.” With nothing attached, the composer says “Pinterest needs a photo or video.”

“Connect your Pinterest account in Integrations first.”

Connect Pinterest in Integrations, then schedule the pin again. Pinterest is not connected to this workspace yet.
