“That code is invalid or has expired”
A sign-in code lasts 10 minutes and allows five tries, and only the newest one works. Press Resend code and use the code in the latest email.
The code you entered no longer works. Press Resend code and enter the code from the newest email. The old code may be wrong, older than 10 minutes, or past its five tries. It may also be used already, or replaced by a newer code.
Why a code stops working
- It is more than 10 minutes old. Every code expires 10 minutes after Munshi sends it.
- A newer code replaced it. Each new code cancels the one before, so only the code in the latest email works.
- It was entered wrong five times. After five wrong tries the code stops working, even if the next try is right.
- It was already used. A code signs you in once.
Munshi shows the same message in every case, under the code boxes on the Check your email screen.
Getting a new code
Press Resend code under the boxes. It counts down 45 seconds first. Then Munshi says “A fresh code is on its way. Enter the newest one (older codes stop working).” Check spam if the email does not show up. To fix a typo in the address, press Change email.
The “Too many” messages
- “Too many code requests. Please wait a bit before trying again.” Munshi sends at most four codes to one address in an hour. Wait, then ask again.
- “Too many attempts. Please wait a minute and try again.” Munshi takes eight tries for one address in 15 minutes. Wait, then enter the newest code.
When the email does not get through
Continue with Google signs you in without a code. If your Google account uses the same address, you land in the same account and workspaces. When email sign-in is down, the first screen says “Email sign-in is temporarily unavailable. Try Continue with Google.”
If something goes wrong
“The code was right, but the session did not stick.”
Request a new code and try again, as the message says. The code worked, but the sign-in did not hold in this browser. If it happens again, email info@munshi.social.
