Munshi vs Later

Munshi Social, the AI content marketing engine for small teams, side by side with Later. Later is a visual social media planner that grew up on Instagram. It is known for its drag-and-drop Visual Instagram Planner, its Link in Bio page and its iOS and Android apps. It was acquired in 2022 by an influencer marketing company that took the Later name in 2024, and that company also runs influencer campaigns and affiliate links for brands.

14-day free trial · No card required · 7-day money-back

Pick Later if you plan Instagram by how the grid looks: its Visual Instagram Planner, Link in Bio page and Best Time to Post are the reasons to use it, and it does all three well. Pick Munshi if nobody has time to write, because Munshi writes the posts and the articles, while Later writes one caption each time you spend a credit. Later's Starter plan is $18.75 a month billed yearly, or $25 billed monthly, for 30 posts per profile and 5 AI credits a month. Munshi is $15 a month for 1,000 posts and 15 articles, written from a keyword plan you approve. Later publishes to social networks only, and nothing in it reaches a blog or a keyword plan. Munshi has no grid preview, no link in bio and no mobile app, so an Instagram-first creator who enjoys writing their own captions should stay on Later.

The rows above, as screens

There is no grid preview in Munshi. What an Instagram-first reader gets instead is the post itself: pictures in order, a caption written for Instagram, and a calendar that holds it.

The differences that decide it

Every comparison on this site answers the rows above. These rows matter only when two tools are this close.

Munshi Later
Who writes the content Munshi does. It drafts articles and posts from the keyword map you approved and your company profile. They wait in a weekly batch before you open the app. You do, with help. In the post builder, Caption Writer drafts a caption from a few words about the post, or rephrases yours in a casual, professional or custom tone. It is in beta and works in English only.
How the AI is metered By finished output: 15 articles and 1,000 posts a month on Founding. There is no credit balance. By credits shared between Caption Writer and Ideas: 5 a month on Starter, 50 on Growth and 100 on Scale. One credit writes one caption or three ideas. Credits reset on the 1st of each month, and 100 more cost $5 a month or $40 a year.
Posts a month 1,000 posts a month across every connected network on Founding, and 3,000 pooled across three brands on Studio. Capped per profile: 12 on Free, 30 on Starter, 180 on Growth and unlimited on Scale. A post counts when it is scheduled, and drafts count too.
Accounts per network One per workspace, which is the same shape as one Later social set. Studio runs three brands, each with its own accounts, for $29 a month. One per social set. Starter has 1 set, Growth 2 and Scale 6, and Growth and Scale can add more. Two Instagram profiles need at least two sets, which means Growth.
Instagram grid preview Not offered. Munshi shows posts on a day, week and month calendar, not as a feed grid. The Visual Instagram Planner, on every plan including Free. It previews up to 60 upcoming posts beside the published ones, and you drag them into a new order. Growth and up can share the preview by link. This is Later at its best.
Link in bio Not offered. Included on every plan, one page per social set. It holds unlimited buttons, links on each Instagram and TikTok post, email capture, affiliate links and its own analytics. Starter and up remove the Later banner.
Best time to post You set the time in the composer or on the calendar. Munshi does not claim to pick a better slot, so Later is ahead here. Best Time to Post on Starter and up for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. It reads your past posts and follower activity and highlights slots in the calendar. Growth shows it across several profiles at once.
Blog articles 15 a month on Founding, written for you into WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Framer, or Sanity. Ghost, Webflow, and Framer get them as drafts you publish from your own dashboard. WordPress gets drafts too, except scheduled articles, which go live at their slot. Sanity goes live on schedule. Not part of the product. Later's help centre lists WordPress, RSS feeds and HubSpot among the platforms it does not support.
Keyword and content strategy Included. Munshi researches keywords, checks demand and proposes a weekly plan. You edit or approve it before anything is written. Ideas, in beta on paid plans, turns a short brand description into five content pillars and suggests post ideas inside each. That is a posting theme, not a keyword plan, and no search data sits behind it.
Seats and approvals Two seats per workspace, and the only roles are owner and member. Approval is one weekly batch, and nothing unapproved publishes. 1 user on Starter, 2 on Growth and 4 on Scale, with custom roles from Growth. Growth adds approval workflows, post comments and external review links for people without a login. On Growth and Scale, extra users cost $5 a month each, or $3.75 billed yearly.
Comments and messages A Community inbox for comments. You reply on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads, and read YouTube and Bluesky comments. There are no direct messages. The Social Inbox starts on Growth. It handles Instagram and Facebook direct messages, and comments on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Starter has no inbox.
Analytics Search Console, Google Analytics and every connected network on one Results page. Numbers are captured daily, and reports export as PDF or Excel. Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, with 3 months of history on Starter, 1 year on Growth and 2 years on Scale. Pinterest keeps 3 months on every plan, and Threads is covered too. LinkedIn analytics cover personal profiles only, and Pinterest counts only Pins scheduled through Later. Custom cross-network reports and competitor benchmarking are on Scale.
On a phone The web app rearranges for phone width, with a bottom bar and a plus button for the composer. There is no app to install. Native iOS and Android apps on every plan, including the grid preview. Instagram and TikTok posts can also go out by phone notification when you want music or stickers. This is better if you post from your phone.
Billing, trial and refunds $15 a month or $144 a year, with a 14-day trial and no card. Cancel any time in the Paddle billing portal, with 7-day money back on a first payment. Monthly or yearly, and yearly saves 25%. The 14-day trial needs a card and turns into a paid plan unless you cancel. Plans are non-refundable, except case by case. Cards, plus Google Pay and Apple Pay for new trials. No PayPal or bank transfer.
Creator and influencer tools Not offered. Creators can apply to brand campaigns from any plan, including Free, and build a media kit on paid plans. The wider company runs influencer campaigns and affiliate links for brands.

Later's plans page prints yearly rates, which it describes as three months free, or 25% off monthly billing. The monthly column follows that rule. Billed yearly, Starter is $225 a year, Growth $450 and Scale $990. The free plan appears in Later's help centre, not on the plans page, and it limits YouTube to one Short a month. Growth and Scale can add a social set for $11.25 a month billed yearly, and a user for $3.75 billed yearly or $5 monthly. 100 extra AI credits cost $5 a month or $40 a year. Starter cannot add sets or users. Qualified non-profits get 50% off an annual Growth plan.

Founding pricing is locked for life on the plan and billing cycle you join. Later price rises apply only to new members. A Munshi brand holds one account per network, which is the same shape as one Later social set.

Three situations, with the arithmetic

These are list prices, multiplied out. Do the same sum for your own team before you believe either of us.

A creator who plans the grid and writes their own captions

One person on Instagram and TikTok, who arranges the feed by eye and links products from the bio.

Later $25/mo Starter billed monthly, or $18.75 a month billed yearly. The grid preview, Link in Bio, Best Time to Post, first comments and the mobile apps are all included.
Munshi $15/mo Founding writes the posts and 15 articles a month, but it has no grid preview, no link in bio page and no app to install.

Later is the right tool here, and this page should not talk you out of it. Munshi earns its price when the writing stops happening, not when the feed layout is the plan.

A small business on six networks, where nobody writes

An owner who wants three posts a week on each network and a blog, and has no time to write either.

Later $25/mo Starter billed monthly covers the six profiles and 30 posts each. Three posts a week is about 78 captions a month, and 5 AI credits write five of them. There is no blog.
Munshi $15/mo Founding writes every post and 15 articles a month, and publishes to all 8 networks and your CMS. The week waits in one batch for your yes.

Later's price is fair for a queue. It does not include anyone writing what goes in it, and this is the case Munshi is built for. Six networks fit because a Munshi workspace, like a Later social set, holds one account on each.

A freelancer with three clients and a client sign-off

Three brands, one account on each network per brand, and a client who must approve posts before they go out.

Later $48.75/mo Growth billed yearly at $37.50, plus one extra social set at $11.25, or $585 a year. That gives 2 users, custom roles, approvals, external review links and the inbox with direct messages.
Munshi $29/mo Studio runs three brands with their own accounts and calendars, 45 articles and 3,000 posts pooled, and per-brand reports as PDF or Excel.

Munshi is cheaper and writes the content. Later is the better tool if the client has to approve inside the product: Munshi has two seats per workspace, no role chain and no review link to send a client.

Pick Later if…

  • You plan Instagram by the grid and want to drag posts into order before they go out
  • You want a link in bio page with shoppable post links, email capture and its own analytics
  • You write your own captions and want best-time slots for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok in the calendar
  • You post from your phone and want real iOS and Android apps
  • A client or colleague approves posts through a review link or with their own login and role
  • You are a creator who wants brand campaigns, a media kit or Snapchat in the same tool

Pick Munshi if…

  • Nobody is going to write the captions, and 5 AI credits a month will not fill a calendar
  • You want blog articles written into your own CMS, which Later does not do at any price
  • You want search numbers and social numbers on one page, not social alone
  • You would rather have 1,000 posts a month at one flat price than a cap of 30 per profile
  • You want to try it for 14 days without a card, and pay month to month with 7-day money back
  • You post to Bluesky, which Later does not support

Where each one falls down

A comparison written by one of the two tools is worth reading only if it is willing to lose a row. Here are both lists.

What reviewers and Later's own pages flag

  • Trustpilot reviewers describe annual renewals they did not expect and refunds refused. Later's own policy says plans are non-refundable.
  • Capterra reviewers call the post limits and the features held back for higher tiers a push to upgrade. Starter caps each profile at 30 posts a month, and drafts count.
  • Reviewers say analytics for networks other than Instagram lag behind. Later's help centre confirms LinkedIn analytics cover personal profiles only, and Pinterest counts only Pins scheduled through Later.
  • The AI writes one caption per credit, from 5 credits a month on Starter. Caption Writer is in beta and English only.
  • It is social only. There is no blog publishing and no keyword plan, and WordPress is on Later's list of unsupported platforms.

What we will tell you about Munshi

  • No Instagram grid preview and no link in bio page. If you plan the feed by how it looks, Later is the better tool.
  • One account per network per workspace, two seats, and owner and member as the only roles. There is no external review link for a client.
  • No mobile app. The web app works at phone width, but there is nothing to install and no phone-notification publishing.
  • The Community inbox replies to comments on four networks and has no direct messages. There are no creator tools, no Snapchat and no competitor benchmarking.
  • A small team launched Munshi in 2026, and there is no free plan. The track record is months, not years.

Munshi and Later, answered

How much does Later cost?

Billed yearly, Later's plans page shows Starter at $18.75 a month, Growth at $37.50 and Scale at $82.50. Yearly billing is 25% off monthly, which puts monthly billing at $25, $50 and $110. Starter includes 1 social set and 1 user, Growth 2 sets and 2 users, and Scale 6 sets and 4 users. Prices checked on later.com/pricing on 30 September 2026.

Does Later have a free plan?

Yes, though the plans page does not show it. Later's help centre describes a free plan with 12 posts per profile a month, one YouTube Short, a Link in Bio page, the grid preview and introductory analytics. It has no AI credits, and the calendar shows only two weeks back and ahead. Munshi has no free plan, only a trial.

What is a social set in Later?

One profile on each network Later supports: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. Two Instagram profiles therefore need two social sets, which means Growth. A Munshi workspace works the same way, with one account per network, and Studio runs three of them for $29 a month.

How many posts can I schedule on Later?

It depends on the plan, and it is counted per profile per month: 12 on Free, 30 on Starter, 180 on Growth and unlimited on Scale. Posts count when they are scheduled, and drafts count too. The count resets on the 1st of the month. Munshi's Founding plan allows 1,000 posts a month across all your networks.

Does Later write captions for you?

One at a time, when you ask. Caption Writer drafts a caption from a few words about your post, or rephrases one you wrote, and each request uses a credit. Plans include 5 credits a month on Starter, 50 on Growth and 100 on Scale, and 100 more cost $5 a month. Munshi writes the posts and 15 articles a month from a plan you approved, with no credits to spend.

Is there a Later free trial, and does it need a card?

Yes, 14 days on any paid plan, once per account. You enter card details to start it, and the paid plan begins automatically when it ends unless you cancel first. Munshi's trial runs 14 days with 3 real articles and 50 posts, and needs no card.

Does Later give refunds?

Later's help centre says its plans are non-refundable, and that exceptions are reviewed case by case and may carry early termination fees. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep the plan until the billing cycle ends. Munshi refunds a first payment within 7 days.

Does Munshi have an Instagram grid preview or a link in bio page?

No to both. Munshi shows posts on a day, week and month calendar, and it has no hosted link in bio page. If either is how you work on Instagram, Later is the better tool, and both are on its free plan.

Which networks does Later support?

Eight: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat. Later ended support for X on 28 August 2025, and it does not support Bluesky or Google Business Profile. Munshi connects 8: Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube and Bluesky. X is coming soon on Munshi, and Munshi has nothing for Snapchat.

Can Later publish blog articles to my website?

No. Later publishes to social networks, and its help centre lists WordPress among the platforms it does not support. Its Link in Bio page can link to your blog posts, but nothing in Later writes or publishes an article. Munshi writes 15 articles a month into 5 platforms: WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Framer, or Sanity.

Is Later good for agencies?

It can be. Each client gets a social set, Growth and Scale add sets and users as add-ons, and Growth brings roles, approvals and review links for clients without a login. Scale adds custom reports and competitor benchmarking. The writing is still your team's job, and Munshi is the better fit only if your agency sells finished content rather than a client approval chain.

Can I move from Later to Munshi?

Yes. There is no importer, and little to import, because everything Later published is on your own accounts. Export any analytics you want to keep, cancel before the renewal date, and disconnect the accounts. Then connect them to Munshi, describe your business and approve a first strategy, which takes about an afternoon. If you use Later's Link in Bio page, set up a replacement first, because Munshi does not host one.
