Publish to Medium with Import a story
Munshi does not post to Medium. Publish the article on your own blog, then bring it into Medium with Import a story. Search credit stays with your site.
Munshi has no Medium connection, so you add articles to Medium yourself. Once the article is live on your own blog, bring it in with Medium's Import a story tool. Medium sets the canonical link to your blog, so search credit stays with your site.
Why Munshi does not post to Medium
Medium issues no new API integrations, so there is nothing for Munshi to publish through. Medium is listed under Publish your blog on Integrations, but it cannot be connected. Munshi never creates anything on Medium.
Import the article
- Publish the article to your blog from Munshi. Ghost, Webflow and Framer hold it as a draft, and so does WordPress when you publish now. Publish it there until the page is live.
- Copy the article's address from your blog.
- In Medium, use Import a story with that address.
- Check the imported story in Medium and publish it there.
The canonical link stays with your site
The canonical link tells search engines which address is the original. An imported story points its canonical link at the address it came from. Search engines then treat your blog as the original, and the credit stays with your site. Importing from the live page sets that link for you.
If you would rather paste it
The article's Copy / Export menu has Copy article and Download .md for pasting into Medium's editor. A pasted story does not carry the canonical link by itself. Set it to your article's address in Medium before you publish.
If something goes wrong
The article is still a draft on my blog
Publish the draft from your blog's own dashboard first, then import its address into Medium. Import a story needs the published page. Draft or live says which platforms hold a draft.
Can Munshi schedule the Medium story?
No. Munshi never publishes to Medium, so you import and publish in Medium, whenever you choose.
